The Architect’s vision

Inspired by nature. Crafted with care.

A modern country home – full of character, full of charm.
That was our vision for Amberley.

Originally an endearing 1970s cottage, the owners and I set out to tenderly restore the property – retaining its unique form while modernising the traditional features.

The result? A truly luxurious haven – that’s also warm and inviting.

Graced by striking 270-degree views of the natural landscape, I knew this prized feature had to lead all aspects of the design. By framing the living area with large glass windows, I did just that – opening the space and accentuating the tree-side outlook.

Yet perhaps the boldest elements of the design are the black interior walls which further salute the views and give the home its authentic charm.

Designed for both the cooler and warmer months, visitors will enjoy the sleek French Cheminees Philippe fireplace during winter, and heat control from the external west-front blinds in summer.

Cathedral ceilings, French oak flooring – and an abundance of light-filled spaces. That’s the aesthetic of Amberley.

Modern furniture is also paired with eclectic European pieces to create a home, not just a house.

It was a pleasure working with the owners to imagine Amberley. Seeing it come to life has been just as special. I’m sure anyone who visits will feel its magic too.
